Amma Woods
Executive Director
Amma is a knowledgeable nonprofit leader who specializes in program quality and growth. She comes to Creative Muse with an array of experience organizing and supporting youth grades K-8, families, and staff across New York City. As a former Afterschool Program Director and Community School Director in her childhood community of East New York, Amma understands the importance and value of making space for community member voices and allowing them to be an integral part of the program design process. She has worked nearly two decades at NYC community-based organizations such as Groundwork Inc., Good Shepherd Services, and LEAP. She also spent one year managing program contracts for the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) where she oversaw a portfolio of 24 middle school programs. As Executive Director, Amma is looking forward to increasing Creative Muse’s footprint in the Lower East side and beyond. Through a holistic approach, she will lead the charge for providing support to community members physical, emotional, and social well-being one day at a time.
